More infrastructures combined with abundant Information Technology (IT) and IT-capable manpower make the regions more attractive and potential areas for Business Process Outsourcing (BPO)-oriented services.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said these factors have made investors see the regions as profitable places for business activities.
Trade undersecretary for operations, Carisa Evangelista said in the past years there were no e-servers operating outside Metro Manila. With investors’ confidence, investments spilled over in the countryside.
She said that among the good BPO locations outside Metro Manila are Bacold City, Baguio City, Cagayan de Oro, Clark, Pampanga, Davao, Iloilo, Leyte, San Fernando, La Union, Subic, and Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
Evangelista said it is important that the country’s IT-competent cities and provinces be recognized in the global economy, to encourage more investments in the countryside.
To date, there are 38 BPO firms located in Bacolod, Baguio, CaGAYAN DE Oro, Davao, Iloilo, Leyte, and Sta Rosa Laguna.
